Our Mission

Our Mission

Supporting Older Adults across Chicagoland

Interfaith Community Partners (ICP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the needs of older adults in the local community who are facing isolation and limited mobility. Our overarching mission is to maximize the independence and well-being of older adults by enabling connections with others in their community. We do this primarily by providing older adults with safe, accompanied transportation to medical appointments, therapies, and life-enhancing errands including the grocery store, bank, hairdresser, and church. ICP’s trained and dedicated volunteer drivers pick up our older adult clients up at their homes, drive them to appointments and wait with them as needed, and drive them back home safely.

In addition to accompanied transportation, ICP works to keep older adults connected and brighten their days by providing home visits and friendly phone calls, delivering library materials, and providing outreach services like birthday bouquets, high school pen pals, holiday treats, and special surprises. We also partner with community organizations and share local resources to help our older adult clients stay connected to the community and live quality lives. Our clients are your family, neighbors, and friends

ICP clients are typically older adults who are facing decreased mobility, medical setbacks, the death of a spouse, or other age-related situations that present a need for transportation assistance. They often have some family support, but family or friends may not be able to meet all needs they require. They are our parents, our neighbors, our former teachers, our childhood leaders—a generation of people whose wisdom and talents shaped our community. We consider it a privilege to bring them safe, reliable transportation and outreach services to alleviate isolation while providing security and peace of mind.

Our History

Our History

ICP was founded in 1999 by several local church congregations looking to ease the plight of isolated older adults in our local community. With grants from Community Memorial Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (Faith in Action), the churches formed ICP to enhance the mobility of older adults and keep them better connected with their communities. This dedicated coalition of churches [link to Funding page, which lists church partners] continues to partner with ICP to identify older adults who could benefit from our services, recruit volunteers, and provide financial support for our mission. Since our founding, ICP has expanded transportation services to more communities, added numerous outreach programs, and formed strong partnerships with the businesses, community organizations, and citizens of our communities in support of older adults.
