Making a Difference in the Community

Making a Difference in the Community

In a year of unprecedented challenges, ICP pivoted our efforts and developed creative solutions to ensure we kept our mission going strong while keeping everyone safe. We made sure clients got to critical medical appointments, added services like grocery delivery and vaccine appointment coordination, and emphasized and adapted outreach efforts to combat the increased isolation due to limited in-person interactions. The dedication and flexibility of our volunteers, ingenuity of our staff, and support from the community allowed us to continue supporting older adults throughout the pandemic.

Numbers are only part of the story...

What is not reflected in our service statistics are the countless friendly conversations between volunteers and clients—the laughter, the occasional tears, the sharing of family stories, and the passing along of wisdom only age can provide. Along with this are the numerous sighs of relief from client family members who rely on ICP when they cannot be there for their loved ones, and the thank you’s, smiles, and appreciative notes from our clients, grateful to make an appointment, share in conversation, and simply know someone cares. It is in these moments that we get our greatest motivation to continue this important work.

Looking Ahead

As vaccinations continue, infections drop, and life slowly moves toward pre-pandemic times, ICP is continually adapting our services and policies to best serve older adults while continuing to prioritize the safety of clients, volunteers, and the community.
